What's in a Name?

Most TV shows name their episodes. Some even have fun with it ("Desperate Housewives" names all its episodes after song titles from musicals). But traditionally, daytime shows haven't done that, mostly because of the sheer volume they produce ("Guiding Light" just aired episode 15,436). "One Life to Live," though, is bucking the trend! Viva la revolution!

So you'll notice that "One Life" has started naming its episodes. The on-air trend started a few weeks ago, but they've actually been internally doing it since last year. Why the change? "Because each show is a work of art and deserves to be named, "executive producer Frank Valentini told SOAPnet.com. We totally agree!

Each episode's title has something to do -- directly or subtly -- with the events of that day. Often it's a fun play on words or pop culture. For example, yesterday's episode "Through a Glass, Darkly" is a play on the famous 1961 film/New Testament quote, but with a whole new twist given that Nash (Forbes March) met a dark fate after falling through a glass skylight. Tuesday's, "Long Live the Queen" referred to Dorian's (Robin Strasser) shout out to herself after taking over Buchanan Enterprises. Get it?

It's actually a fun game trying to figure out how the title connects to the events of the day. You should play!

We love it so much we think all the other daytime shows should follow.

They've had some good ones. "Uncle-cest is best" is still the funniest I think.
