Title: Tennis Anyone?

I honestly can't wait to see the ball to the eye. Me thinks that will be on loop today.

I'm going to give kudos to AMC's writers today because they wrote Kendall right. First, it ain't paranoia if Greenlee has propositioned Zach, joked about screwing his brains out, and then taunted her with the thought that she did have sex with Zach. The montage before the ball hit Greenlee was all I needed to wish Kendall well and hope that her serve was as fast as a Roger Clemens fastball during the steroids years.
Second, good for Kendall for owning her shit. I understand the need to initially deny, deny, deny, but then she admitted it, and when a babynapper is upset because her eye is bruised and she's claiming moral superiority after having propositioned your husband, why not take credit where it's due?
Third, good for Kendall for not fully buying into Greenlee's taunts at the end, and for asking Greenlee to explain what she meant.
As for Zach, he gets one point from me for calling Aidan's character into question, but since Aidan didn't understand Zach's point, it was more for the audience's sake than anything else.
I'm still bothered that it took Greenlee to imply that Zach himself had done the nasty with her for him to get off his ass and say something to her. Up until that point, he was all supportive of Greenlee, physically and emotionally, from Zach's "oy" when he saw what happened and his look of disgust at Kendall, to his arms around his friend, telling "baby" to wait until the ice pack was applied to her eye.
But according to AMC, the last few seconds when Zach realized that Greenlee was having too much fun at Kendall's expense by implying that Zach had screwed his BFF makes up for the last four episodes of Zach thinking that Kendall lacks faith in him and is close to pushing him away.
Except that's not enough for me, sorry to say.

All I gotta ask is--do Zen have a prenup? If not...Holla, Kitches! Ian Hart is set for LIFE, yo. Can you imagine all of the churkins that Lefty can seasona with his billions?
Kendall Hart, CEO of Cambias sounds nice to me. She will of course run it from Paris with her sister and her brother. I refuse to have the Fetus further tainted so he's going there with K and the boys.

Right! He loves Lefty and his seasonas. He just doesn't like to be pee'd on.

Desiree, you crack me the hell up, and you speak the truth. I especially loved the last part about Kendall running Cambias from Paris. And yes we need to get Josh away from the black widow.

It was great to see Kendall take on Greenlee and not swallow her garbage. I don’t think that Kendall hit Greenlee purposely with the ball, but I am glad that after the whiney bitch started to attack her, Kendall said that she did. I don’t know much about tennis, but it seems to me not that easy to hit someone purposely in the face with a serve. It looks like Kendall is taking Erica’s advice and standing up for herself and taking back control. I saw a little more of the old firey self confident Kendall and hope it continues. Enough with the guilt Kendall, listen to your mother....you made a mistake....channel your chi and beat the bitch at her own game.
From Zach’s expression I saw a look of satisfaction that Kendall was standing up to Greenlee. I also liked that he defended Kendall from Greenlee’s snarky remarks. I was not surprised that Zach was concerned about GB being hit with the ball, that is a normal instinctive reaction to seeing a friend hurt. Do I like him considering her a friend? NO, but I could understand his reaction.
I think after today Zach finally got a clue as to what Greenlee is up to with Kendall and I also liked that Kendall did not jump to any quick conclusions about the “keeping in the family” comment, but only asked what it meant. GB overplayed her cards today and clued her BFF in on her agenda. Let’s hope it continues. Zach has to wake up out this HoR haze and see the bitch for who she really is.
Desiree - June 11, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
I think Z was just satisfied that his purse BFF baby would only have a minor boo boo that would heal quickly and wouldn't mar the face that showed him love, faith, and forgiveness.

Totally not Lefty's fault. He hasn't quite learned how to control Wand Jr. yet and the only person who can teach him is Zach. Unfortunately the only part of his daddy he sees is his foot --which is hanging out the back of Greenlee's ass because that's how far he's up there.

Tennis -
Loved Zach slamming on Aidan. Loved that he threated him about making a move on Kendall. Didn't love the part about Greenlee. She deserves better than Aidan?! Seriously?! In what universe?! GAG.
Loved Kendall whacking that bitch. Finally. Also loved that when Greenlee said she "kept it in the family," Kendall didn't starting going "oh my god, you and Zach slept together!" even though that's precisely what Greenlee wanted. Instead, Kendall was all "WTF does that mean?" Good.
Loved that Zach finally--FINALLY--got a glimpse of the real Greenlee, but honestly, I had a problem with him going after her. Let me clarify--I loved that he was all WTF with her, but when he ran after Greenlee, it was yet again saying to Kendall that Greenlee is the one whose feelings matter, Greenlee is the one we should all be concerned about and fawn over, and Greenlee is the one that Zach is paying attention to. That ain't cool.
Oh yeah, if Kendall/Greenlee were supposed to be warming up to play some people as a business meeting, and Greenlee bailed, and Zach ran off, where does that leave Kendall? Is she gonna have to ask Aidan to partner with her? I mean, seriously, come on! UGH.
Okay, so here comes my "perspective of a former tennis player" stuff:
-Kendall was obviously having trouble serving. Her arm movements were all wrong. Thus, the fact that she wolloped Greenlee was extra specially cool because it was all about focusing her chi (thank you Erica!) and getting the right end result. The power of visualization!
-Greenlee getting hit in the eye--off of a serve--was her own damn fault! She should have been standing back far enough behind the service line to have had plenty of time to react.
Sigh. How I long for the day when we get to say "Game, set, match, Slater!" and Greenlee is gone from their lives!!!
Tad/Kate - Honestly, their scenes were just so anti-climactic for me after all the years of waiting that I was pretty bored. Loved MEK, but still. Are they gonna start calling Kathy Kate now?
Adam/Dixie/KWAK - Adam rocked it as only DC can (I hope he wins the Emmy!). Dixie's back to being obnoxious. At least KWAK's boobs were covered.
JR/Babe - Don't care about Jabe. Mad at JR about wanting Zach in prison. I want the two fo them to team up to take Richie down, not play against each other! Still wish Richie would bump Greenlee off on his way out of PV.
Richie/Annie - I flove Richie when he's messing with the Laverys! Sigh. I'm gonna miss Billy Miller.Annie's just not too bright these days, is she? So lame. Another victim of the Greenlee "redemption."
GO TEAM SLATER!!!

I believe he said "Don't be a baby". I also think, judging by what he said to Aidass about whether they'll work it out or kill each other that he's letting them work it out for themselves (smart man) but I think all bets were off when he heard how GB was taunting Kendall (smart man).
As a person who has played tennis for years, I must say there is a one in a million chance that Kendall really could have intentionally hit GB in the face with that ball. In practicing her serve Kendall didn't look like she was a "profesesional" in any way shape or form. Also, if GB is just going to stand there and not move to actually hit the ball the odds are increased that she's going to get hit. Obviously more plot crap from the writers but I must say I totally enjoyed it. As I said I don't think Kendall intended to actually hit her but I do think she said she did because she knew that the bitch was not going to believe her and I personally LOVED IT because it showed by the Kendall that I know and love the Kendall who doesn't take shit from anyone.
Jules - June 12, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
I've been told that Zach did say "Don't be a baby", so I'll go with that.
I couldn't be happier that Kendall hit Greenlee, and I was pretty pleased to see that AMC realized that she deserved it for the past jokes in bad taste and propositions, all of which actually happened, and didn't need to be re-shot in order to make them appear worse, unlike the ONS. But what I'm not enjoying at all is the I Love Lucy theme to Zen these days--Kendall does the crazy thing which gets on Zach's nerves, and he has to first lecture her and then find a way to live with his wacky wife. And the tennis ball incident, to me, is vintage Lucy Ricardo, with Zach not being too pleased with Kendall at first (from his initial reaction before they cut to commercial) and then enjoying the nutty circumstances before finally the scene turns pretty damn serious, and they talk about honesty, intentional assault and marital infidelity. I would rather Zach not play Kendall's straight man, tolerating her hijinks, but be a part of them, enjoy them and be turned on by them. From last Friday's show to yesterday's, I didn't see that from him.
Jermetria - June 12, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
Regardless of whether it was "professional" or not it hit a target. Good times!
Northern Gal - June 12, 2008 04:08 PM (GMT)
It was supposed to be an intentional hit that’s the way it was scripted. Whether or not Kendall is an amateur or Greenlee could have avoided the shot, the end result would have been the same, Kendall needed to hit Greenlee. So no point in over analyzing, it’s a mute point.
Isn’t it all about the writing after all. The writers made her do it.

Zenamo, I saw that scene differently. Zach ran after Greenlee to confront her with what she implied to Kendall. He said, "What the hell was that? What are you trying to pull with Kendall?" As soon as Greenlee saw that he was going to confront her, she turned and walked away in a snit. He was concerned about what mind games GB was playing with Kendall. Don't forget Kendall never told Zach the things that Greenleen was telling her. When Greenlee opened her mouth about keeping it in the family, Zach figured out what she was telling Kendall....that he slept with her. Zach did not know that Josh was the man who GB had sex with. GB technically did not lie, Josh is Kendall's brother, but she knew how Kendall would interpret it. I saw that scene as a Zach protective of Kendall, not Greenlee.
Also as to what Zach said when the ice was brought, "Let me see it...niiiice...don't be a baby, it's alright...here put this up to your eye ." IMO he was downplaying GB's reaction, out of concern for the worried look on Kendall's face. It's all in the way we see it and interpret it.....who knows what the writers wanted us to see.
Jules - June 12, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Diva, I'm going to agree with you completely about that last scene with Zach and Greenlee, because I think he got it at that moment, and I liked it alot. I wish he'd figured it out a few seconds earlier, when she first started to insult him, let alone Kendall, but I had no problem with Zach in the last few seconds of yesterday's show.
I'm also pissed that it wasn't until the very end of Day 4 of Wacky Kendall and Her Nutty Insecurities Week, but I've expressed that before, so I won't repeat it.
My only comment about Zach putting the ice on Greenlee's face and telling her not to be a baby is that I'm totally buying into the fact that Zach and Greenlee are friends and he cares about her, and at the moment that she was injured, I think he was concerned about her as much as he was concerned about Kendall's role in the "attack". I'm not being snotty or sarcastic here--Z/G are friends. Good friends. Got it. He wants to help her to smile again. I hate it, but I accept it. So I fully buy that when he tended to Greenlee, he was as much about her as he was about Kendall at that moment, and any smile/smirk he had in that scene was for both women and what he saw pretty quickly as Kendall's intentional gunning for Greenlee and Greenlee's melodramatic overreaction. My take was, in his eyes, it was cute and fun to see two women who are special to him (one he loves and is married to, one he likes alot) engage in yet another classic Kenlee argument.
That was my take on that moment, and as you've said, we all have different ways of interpreting a scene. As I've rewatched it many times, with as open a mind as I can have after reading alot of different posts with alot of different opinions, I haven't been able to see it differently. I know that alot of Zen fans think Zach was amused by Kendall and admired her fiery spirit, but based on what I saw yesterday, I think he was initially pissed (based on Zach's look in Kendall's direction after Greenlee got hit), then amused by the whole wacky situation involving both women, and then I think he was pretty passive, listening to Greenlee, then Kendall, then Greenlee, then Kendall. It was only when Greenlee changed the tone and started taunting Kendall that he showed some disgust with Greenlee (IMO), and that was too slow for me.
I would hope we'll get some carryover on tomorrow's show and find out a little more about what Zach is thinking about all this.
zenamo - June 14, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
Diva and Jules, I totally agree with your analysis of why Zach went after Greenlee. No argument here! What I meant was that it just came off like he was running after her--you couldn't tell why he was running after her from Kendall's or Aidan's points of view. Kendall and Aidan were just left standing there. It just seemed like one more way the writers were trying to set up a "paranoid nutjob Kendall" situation . . . that's what bugged me. (I hope I expressed myself better this time--I didn't mean to criticize Zach's behavior, just the way it was set up!)
P.S. Just on a side note, I used to play tennis, and when I was looking in my closet for something--it's a mess right now--three tennis balls fell out . . . it made me smile jsut thinking about that whack.
Jules - June 14, 2008 11:39 AM (GMT)
I've analyzed and overanalyzed TK's looks from the tennis match episode, and while I still believe that Zach was one pissed off hubby when he first realized what Kendall had done to Greenlee (again, based on TK's pissed off face), I thought that the one second look Zach gave to Kendall, and she gave to him, as he went after Greenlee told me all I needed to know. He was concerned for Kendall, saw the look on her face and ran after the little bitch. I was pleased to see that Kendall didn't overreact to his leaving her, and I was very pleased to see that he was a man on a mission.
Again, I see that many Zen fans have different interpretations of Zach's looks and comments, but I think at that one moment, Zach, the director and TK did as much as they could with the limited airtime they had.
