Title: Getting stabbed in the back by Fusion gals

Jules - July 11, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
I personally haven't felt very inspired by AMC to post much about the show, but I'll give it a shot today.

First, did everyone enjoy the 5 second scene with Zach and Kendall together today? It was the definition of bad editing, to suddenly have Zach standing in Fusion with Kendall, hugging each other, talking about Annie's accusations. Then as quickly as the scene started, Jesse arrested Zach and off they went. I guess we needed more airtime with insipid teens and Randi the Whore, and I'm not even going to talk about Greenlee in a bikini sunbathing and talking to herself while on a sailboat.

I'm glad that AMC is showing, repeatedly, that Kendall believes Zach's innocent. I don't need a dramatic Friday ending to wonder if Kendall doubts Zach. She doesn't. Annie can kiss off with that.

Since she showed up, I have liked Annie and I've disliked her. I don't like being manipulated, but I'll say right now that if AMC is trying to get me to hate her, it's working. I don't care that Annie felt desperate and said whatever popped into her head. She was interested in saving her own skin, and if Annie is going to have a future in PV, she can't be part of the large dysfunctional family anymore. Not after this.

I don't understand the point of the Babe/JR scenes. Babe was bitching that Kenlee weren't at Fusion, but Kendall was at Fusion working. Greenlee wasn't, yet again. JR can't buy Fusion if the owners don't want to sell it. And I guess that bitching about your bosses is OK, with a magazine editor around or not, even after your bosses risked their asses to save your life. I've never really cared about Babe with AB in the role, but now I intensely dislike her. I hope Babe goes back to JR, they marry for the 47th time and JR tries to kill her again, after he's back on the bottle. Same old, same old.

I liked the Zach/Ryan scenes, especially the part where Zach told Ryan to stop sending mixed signals, but I think I mainly liked them because I saw more TK and CM talking than their characters. I would like to thank the soap gods that Zach wasn't around when Greenlee was injured. I need him to be permanently extricated from BFF duties.

Poor Randi. Where will a whore with no insurance but a heart of gold go to live now? Except that I don't care.

In the real world, Petey should really be about 20 yrs. old, and Colby should be about 9 yrs. old. And Colby lived most of her life on the run with Liza. So when and where exactly did Petey develop a crush on her--when Colby was in diapers? Dumb.

?? I really don't wnat to know...

Maybe Zach should mind his own business and he wouldn't be getting his dumb ass thrown under the train by his Saved!Hos. I guess Greenlee didn't teach him that in the hole so he doesn't know that one, huh?

Here I come to save the day that means that Mighty Ryan is on the way.

Sorry ladies but that song has been going through my head since I saw GB get hit in the head (where the hell was JAWS). GMAFB already with this guy and the action hero shit. The more I see this crap the less respect I have for AMC and I actually felt sorry for Cam for having to do yet another awful hero scene.

As for the editing, it was a screw you to Zen fans once again Getting a little sick of that also. I did love how Zach never took his eyes off of Annie and I absolutely loved Kendall going after her (I kept yelling hit her hit her).

I'm probably off base but the way Jessie arrested Zach (since he had no REAL evidence and didn't read him his rights) was a set up between Jessie and Zach to get Annie to confess. I know I'm probably wrong but it just didn't make any sense so that's the only thing I could come up with that wouldn't make Jessie look like the fool they've always made Derek out to be (didn't take them long to screw another character).

As for JR and Babe, it's like the person who wrote today had no clue as to what was written just a couple of days ago. How do you go from being eternally grateful to a bitch. GMAFB

The teens are a waste period.

The good: Zach/TK in jeans, hat and shirt that hugged his body just right. :thud

Diva - July 12, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
Perky, I had the same thought. Jesse did not even read Zach his rights before he arrested him and cuffed him. That would be very sloppy police work and it would backfire in court. I think that Jesse already suspects that Annie is lying and he just wants her to feel safe so that she slips up in her story. I'll bet Monday we'll see Jesse release Zach. It would be nice that the two would work together to find out what Annie is hiding, but I highly doubt it. Zach always does things alone.

Kudos to Kendall of her fierce defense of her husband. Jules ITA, we already know that Kendall believes in Zach's innocence and we don't need a stupid Friday dialog cut off to think otherwise. She has told that to Zach and to Erica and we don't need any more convincing.

Regarding Annie.......As far as Annie is concerned I am not surprised that she betrayed Zach to save herself. I have never liked Annie and resented the fact that she was considered a friend by Zach and Kendall. If you look at her history you can see that she was a user and not a real friend. She played up to Zach whenever she needed him, but was not there for Kendall when Zach was missing. I have never believed that she accidentally dropped the info about Kendall and Aiden to Zach. When her brother was a threat to her she moved into the Slater house despite the fact that she put the Slater family at risk protecting herself. Also as far as being a good mother I have not seen that recently. Poor Emma has been totally ignored by Annie while trying to get pregnant, lying and holding on to Ryan. In fact getting herself pregnant with a Lavery spawn was more important to her than her daughter when she killed her brother. She also lied to put Richie in jail and didn't get him exhonerated after she found out that the prosecutor was not putting him in a mental facility, but prison. She has been all about herself just as much as Greenlee. Now she has betrayed the only person that has stood by her and regarded her as family, Zach. I am not going to be happy if Zach decides to help her after what she did today.

This is not criticism of the actress. MCE is doing a wonderful job of portraying the character. She has finally been given a role that she can sink her acting teeth into. The character however is DTM as far as the Slaters are concerned. I do not want to see her anywhere near the Slater children or be in their home. If Zach questions her I hope that it is in a public place or his office.

zenamo - July 12, 2008 04:14 AM (GMT)
ICAM about the editing issue. WTF was that?! It totally threw me at the time, but I like the suggestion that it's all a part of the great B&E purge. I can live with that. Although they definitely could have purged elsewhere . . .

Fusion - Right, so Annie came off as a total nutjob--kudos to MCE for that--and I really loathed her today. Jesse's no fool though (at least, he's no fool unless they're literally going to morph him into Derek for lame-ass plot points) and there's no way that he didn't see through her "Oh, I must have accidentally hit the wrong button on my phone" excuse, or her ultra-defensive movie synopsis. Me thinks she doth protest too much.

Kendall rocked it with her defense of Zach. That is exactly the kind of Kendall I wanted to see in this situation. AM was stellar. Her death glares were great. Sucked that she had to call useless Greenlee and ungrateful Babe, but once free of that . . . Don't know why they wouldn't let us see Zach show up, but Kendall's defense/support of him was fantastic. Zach also had that look he gets when the wheels are turning--he so knows (or at least suspects) more than he's letting on. Love it.

Chandlers - WTF was that mess? Jabe not only rehashed their convo of summer '06 when Babe got JR off for what he did to Kendall, but now they've totally recaptured those attitudes too? Huh? Babe's gratitude sure was short-lived. She whines about how she's the only one who works there--yeah, right, because bitching and moaning at Fusion and then lounging by the Chandler pool is so hard. Whatever. UGH. JR was so much fun to watch when he was apologizing to Kendall and working with Zach--what happened to that?! ARGH.

The teens. Yeah, again it seems that lounging by the pool is the cure for everything--at least it's enough to make you forget murdering someone. And Petey . . . um, what have they done to him? Last I recall, he was a little bit of a lech and a schemer, not some ultra awkward techy extra from Revenge of the Nerds or something. Not the greatest actor so far either. Let's hope he gets better.

Hubbards - When I say that I couldn't care less, I really do mean it. This storyline is beyond trite, and I just don't care at all. Don't Angie and Frankie have anything better to do?

Yacht Club - Loved it that Zach was there, all casual and hawt. I was soooooo glad that he avoided Greenlee while there. I mean, really. Couldn't avoid Ryan (and somebody please explain those crazy shorts he was wearing), but then that's better than Greenlee. I hope Zach can count on Ryan not to open his big mouth--and really, since Ryan was in fact an accessory to his plans, it would behoove St. Lavery to keep it zipped. Zach gave Ryan good advice too, but I don't hold out high hopes for that, especially when Ryan made a beeline for Greenlee. UGH. I knew where the boat trip was headed the minute that the guy told her to put on a life jacket. Those were the longest, most pointless scenes ever. Why, oh why, are we subjected to that ish???

GO TEAM SLATER!!!

Diva - July 15, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
Kudos to Kendall for defending Zach from Annie's accusations. I loved it how simply Kendall put it, that Zach did not kill Richie....because he said he didn't. What a different Kendall from the Madden days. Then, she not only didn't believe Zach when he told her he was innocent, she walked away from him when he told her that he was aware of Madden's burial and did nothing to save him. Even if Zach told her that he did kill Richie, today's Kendall would stand by him and support him all the way.

It was nice to see Zach and Kendall sitting close to each other with his hand massaging her back and her hand on his knee in the police station, while Jesse checked out what happened to Richie's remains. It is sad that we get so few Zen together scenes lately. Every little bit we get is greatly appreciated.

The scenes with Zach and Jesse today were great. They have great chemistry together and even though they may not always be on the same side of the law, they do appear to have respect for each other.

Annie is really sealing her fate slowly, but surely. Today not only did she raise Kendall's suspicions about protecting herself by betraying Zach, but by cremating Richie's body she will increase Jesse's as well.

Question...how is a body allowed to be cremated while a criminal investigation is in progress? As usual AMC does not sweat the details of criminal law.

zenamo - July 15, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
Zach/Jesse - Every time they came on screen today, a big grin came over my face. They are fantastic together. I love that they actually talk to each other and listen to each other, rather than talk at each other without any listening at all--unlike the investigation tactics of some of the other PV chiefs of police who shall remain nameless. They really seem to appreciate the opinions of the other. It's almost as if they're more interested in actually finding out what happened than in nailing the first available patsy. Wow, what a concept for the PVPD. Zach looked divine out there too. I mean, seriously, the man is just ridiculously hawt all the time, but add casual clothes, natural lighting, etc. and :yay

Kendall/Annie - You go, Kendall! I really liked those scenes today. Kendall was strong and forceful in her defense of Zach--exactly the way she should be. She was also extremely perceptive and accurate in her attack on Annie, but what made it so cool is that she didn't get overly dramatic--she didn't give Annie anything to feed off of and twist around. Annie tried--uber-bitch that she was today--but was shut down because she couldn't get to Kendall by preying on any insecurities or attacking her. Oh, Annie is most definitely going down. How I wish she would bump off Greenlee before her own downfall though! Seriously! That way, Greenlee could be killed off the show in such a way that there'd be no guilt for Zen (like there would have been if Greenlee had died in the HoR or something). If Richie couldn't whack her, I'm hoping against hope that Annie can (I know it's probably all for nought, but oh well).

Jesse/Zen - I loved them! Those scenes were amazing. The chemistry between TK, AM, and DW is great. How much does it kick ass that TK and AM finally get scenes with someone worthy of their talent! Loved Kendall's interrogation of the two of them--her asking Jesse, Jesse asking Zach, Zach explaining to Kendall. Too much fun. And then the Zen togetherness in Jesse's office, and Jesse including them in the investigation rather than accusing them of anything. Good times . . . I so did not want a repeat of MMM.

Ryan/Greenlee - Right, so normally I'm a glutton for punishment and I'll sit through the entirety of the show (at least the first time through) to make sure I don't miss anything that might be important. However . . . today I absolutely could not take it and FFed that crap. I was actually eating dinner while I was watching, and there was a danger of hurling if I didn't FF. God, that was awful!!! The few snippets of dialogue that I did hear were appalling--when he brought her to shore, I swear the writers used the same dialogue that Ryan spoke to Spike at the accident scene. That's just sick. And honestly, if he remembered everything, why isn't he in love with Annie? That makes no sense and is really lame. CM said in some interview (addressing the flop of the amnesia storyline) that the writers were going to have Rylee come together in a more natural way that would make the audience happy or whatever. Um, not so much. The upchuck factor on this one was off the charts. UGH.

Tad/Kathy/KWAK/Carmen - Meh. Whatever. I'd like to see Carmen and Tad together more. They have the same cheesy sense of humor and could be fun as friends. KWAK needs a wardrobe adjustment--no wonder Carmen didn't realize she was a grandma.

Petey/Colby/Dre/Cassandra - Okay, so I'm confused. Is Petey some kind of super geek or some kind of super lech? They're not juxtaposing the layers of his personality very well. A wardrobe change might help. He is definitely way smarter than Colby and crew though. Eeesh.

GO TEAM SLATER!!! :yay

Jules - July 15, 2008 11:27 AM (GMT)
I think that TK and DW work very well together and I've enjoyed their scenes, but I have to say, I don't like the idea of Zach and Jesse working together. For starters, on paper, it doesn't make sense. Jesse is the police chief. Zach is a businessman whom (at a minimum) Jesse believes beat the crap out of Richie. I don't think he buys that Zach killed Richie, but I also don't think there's alot of trust right now.

My other huge problem is, if AMC wants Zach to be the principal non-police investigator in this story, fine, but Kendall should be Zach's partner, not Jesse. It is yet another day of Kendall wondering where Zach is and waiting for him, and while she got the answer (and I'm grateful that AMC decided that she was entitled to honesty here), I'm massively turned off by the notion that the Boys should do the talking and Kendall should support Zach on the sidelines. That's not how other great, even good, supercouples have handled police investigations in the past--Bo & Hope, Luke & Laura, Kevin & Lucy, just to name a handful.

And because I always enjoy a good "I told you so" moment, I'm going to go back to last Friday's episode and say that Babe's behavior was not out of character at all, and was in fact in character, considering the bitch had been bellyaching about Kendall (and oh yeah, Greenlee, too) to a magazine editor and anyone else who would listen. I felt from the start that Babe's behavior was not a one-time thing to be chalked up to stress over Richie, but bad writing for a bland, unpopular character that (IMO) will do her no favors with the audience. I allowed myself to buy into the plot-device theory that her bitching was all to set up a Fusion Women--Here Us Roar story, but that's not what's going on here. She's an ungrateful employee with attitude, and that doesn't wash with me.

The problem with AMC right now is, it doesn't do much good to take a "wait and see" philosophy. We're here. This is it. Pratt is in the building. He's been a co-executive producer for months now. Babe is an ungrateful bitch and Kendall is the clueless boss who can't find the staplers. Kendall is not Zach's partner in this investigation. She's kept in the dark about most things until someone bothers to answer her questions. She's too good a character on her own to be relegated to this junk. Hell, I found myself hoping that Kendall would go to work with Erica on this New Beginnings show she was helping her out with last week. That would work better for me than what we're seeing now because Kane women, inherently, create excitement. Get Kendall away from all Fusion women (the crazy, the delinquent, the whiny, and the horny/resentful) and back with the Kane family, where she belongs.

Cheryl - July 15, 2008 01:21 PM (GMT)
I agree Jules that the scenes between Jesse and Zach make little to no sense. Now, if it had been Derek and Zach, that would have because Derek arrested Zach and let him go enough to know that he's not teh evul.

But as far as yesterday's show went, I'm glad that neither mentioned Greenlee and Kendall didn't apologize. It's too much to hope this will last for an extended period of time, so I'm going to rejoice while the moment is here. LOL

Oh.... and the other thing I noticed yesterday is that DW is short!!! Wow. Couldn't believe it. All my old time faves are short!! DW, RPG, LL.... shocking. And it's to the point I'm having nightmares about it. LOL

Diva - July 15, 2008 02:00 PM (GMT)
Jules I agree with you for the most part that Zach and Jesse should not be talking about Richie's death under normal circumstances in a real life investigation, because Zach is a suspect and Jesse the police chief. For that matter I don't think that any police chief would be out there doing the investigatative leg work in real life. He would have his lead detectives doing it. This is however AMC and true to life is not what they are all about, neither do they sweat the details on a real life legal system. That aside, I was just happy to see TK with DW, another actor worthy of his talent on my screen together. They do make a dynamic duo and thus I will overlook the lack of reality just to enjoy that we don't have Greenlee in that scene with them. These days little things make me happy. That just shows to what level AMC's writing has sunk.

Regarding Kendall. I am definitely not happy that she is still being left out of working with Zach as a team, however she is being written as a much stronger character every day. Her scenes with Annie showed her as a fierce defender of her husband and intuitive to notice that Annie is no longer the person she had thought her to be. None of Annie's sharp needles about her private life set Kendall off. She kept her emotional head high and strong.

I am going to ignore the stupid staples remark as a temporary aberration thrown in by stupid writing and Zach's phone being off as typical contrived plot point writing, which will probably never cease on this show. There were a few others, but I see improvements in the way Kendall is being written and hope that we see more and more of it in the future.

Jules - July 15, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
Diva, it's not about realism for me. I'm a lawyer and I've never expected AMC to accurately show how a lawyer would handle a hearing or a case, and AMC has never let me down. It's about the fact that AMC's motives are transparent: they want TK and DW to interact, and this is how they'll do it, and while I love DW (I mean, I'm a little in love with DW), I'm as pissed off with having Zach and Jesse interact in this silly manner as I was with every single Grach scene that graced my TV. I continue to feel that this story is meant to connect Jesse and Zach, not Zendall, and that blows. I'm sorry, but it does. And AMC will use any contrived situation (like Kendall sitting on a plane next to Aidan as they both go to Chicago, or Greenlee knowing instinctively where Zach would be after he left Kendall at the Valley Inn) to connect the guys. If Jesse and Zach played poker together, OK. If they met while buying their wives gifts at a local jewelry story, OK. But this--Prime suspect and police chief shooting the breeze? Utter stupidity.

My favorite moment was when Jesse asked Zach if he's heard that evidence never lies, and Zach said, "that's what they tell me". ????? Kate Hall, you did what you were told, but not even TK could sell that for me.

I agree with you that Kendall was written stronger yesterday, but strong and supporting is still not as good to me as strong and front and center. And I won't discuss Pratt's recent scoopage here, but if (big if) he's influenced what we've seen on our TV screens so far as the co-executive producer/new HW-to-be, he may also be responsible for the scenes where we had a strong Kendall in the workplace who tells Babe off, only to apologize to her and hold her hand the next minute, and that concerns me. I think Pratt takes Kendall's strength only so far, and he'll have to prove me wrong on this one.

Cheryl, I also noticed that neither Kendall nor Zach mentioned Greenlee yesterday, nor did Kendall back down from Annie or even from Zach/Jesse. She wanted answers and she got them, and believe me when I say that I appreciated that. I wasn't expecting AMC (Zach or Jesse) to talk honestly to her and it was nice to be proven wrong. I don't think we have much disagreement here, but I still can't see why the outdoor scenes with Zesse couldn't have had Kendall theorizing with Zach as Jesse wondered things out loud. It's a missed opportunity and Zendall get so few of them as it is, that's all.

Desiree - July 15, 2008 03:34 PM (GMT)
My bro had surgery yesterday so I was watching the show live in the waiting room. The whole rescue thing was laughable (I actually went outside because I was laughing so hard) and I'm pretty sure it wasn't supposed to be that funny. Another thing that cracked me up was when Annie said something like "My brother just died!" and Kendall threw her hands up and went "So what!!" LMAO.

I hate that she has to wander around clueless wondering WhereTF her husband is all the time. If Kendall pulled that he'd be all pissy and throwing the "OMGZ you don't trust me to tell me where you are and we're supposed to be a TEAM, but only when I say it's KO because I can do WTFever I want and you need to mind your own business but I need to mind everybody else's business because I am ZOD and GOD I feel like stomping off like a little bitch because I don't feel like hearing you and you're gonna push me away and it will be ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!!!!!"

I'm a little surprised they didn't have her waiting at home baking cookies and wringing her hands while she waited for he husband to tell Aidan who would tell Kendall what he thought was KO for her to hear. But hey, there's always next week. I was also stunned when the town didn't come to a complete halt while Greenlee had her 687687th redmption hospital visit for the year.

AngelaLIC - July 15, 2008 04:26 PM (GMT)
Jesse talking to one of his top 3 suspects like he's his police partner was stupid, chemistry or not. I don't take Jesse seriously as the cheif of police anymore and it was because of that. Last Derek wouldn't have done that even if it was Zod or RyLord. No matter how bad or good he did his job, I respected that he was made no common PVites bitch especially when that PVite was a top suspect.

Bwahaha and WORD on that first paragraph and a half especially!

That said, I was absolutely shocked that Zod answered both Jesse and then Kendall's questions. Zod didn't just tell her to mind her business and go fix her lipstick or something. Sigh, damn my standards are dirt level with Zach right now, lol, I consider it improvement when he's still inconsiderate but answers her without too much of an insult and not as much indignancy.

I was pleased they at least didn't have Kendall whimper away when she was told how it is and to "calm down" with her little woman ways.

perky7kc - July 15, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
ITA Jules. Even though I loved the dynamics between Zach and Jessie, why couldn't Kendall be with them at least. I don't know what AMC's problem is with strong woman. During the SS Kendall showed her stuff and she was awesome. Kendall ran Fusion without any help from GB and did a great job and she's always professional when she's there. Lilsh is AMC's leading lady (plus they work her like a dog) so why isn't she given leading lady material.

I'm also pissed that lately, supposedly, Zach never has his phone with him or turned on or answers it. WTF He's a business man running two companies, has a wife and two small boys and they want us to believe he doesn't have his phone on.

I too don't expect them to get everything right where the law applies but they get NOTHING right and it's just sloppy writing. If, in fact, Pratt is already on the job then I don't have much faith in him improving AMC.

I'm tired of getting shortchanged where Zen is concerned and getting hours of Rylee nonsense. Who cares that he loves her, he loves every woman for about five seconds. Enough of the superman crap, it only makes the character more and more laughable.

New sig maybe?

zenamo - July 16, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Well, I guess I just enjoyed Zach/Jesse so much that I was able to suspend my disbelief for all the WTFness about their convo. I agree that it's ridiculous for the police chief to run theories with suspect numero uno, but I also kinda feel like Jesse's actually eliminated Zach as a suspect (on a gut instinct level if not an official one), so it wasn't so over-the-top crazy to me. Oh, and I don't think DW is all that short--I'm pretty sure the road was sloped and TK had the high ground.

I do want Kendall more involved in this with Zach as opposed to being on the sidelines, and hopefully, with the way Zach and Jesse were honest with her at the station, that's what we'll get. I think Kendall's proven not only that she believes Zach's innocent and will defend him to anyone who dares say otherwise, but also that she's more than capable of contributing to the investigation. Seriously, she's pretty much figured out that Annie is the culprit long before anybody else.

The lack of both Zach and Kendall on today's episode was awful. I wanted more with them talking to Jesse and then talking just to each other. Fingers crossed. I want to see some good Zen stuff soon! Good Team Slater stuff really. The boys, Erica, and maybe throw a little Josh in too. Is that really too much to ask? Where is Josh anyway? Anyone know if he'll manage to stay around with Pratt coming on? I keep hearing contradictory things about Pratt, and I'm nervous about where the show's gonna go . . .
