The New and the Beautiful:
Were you popular in school? "I hate to brag, but yes I was [laughs]! I was never part of a clique, though; i liked everybody from the biggest nerds to the biggest burn-outs. And I was Homecoming Queen, 1992."
Which celebrity's career do you most admire? "Madonna's. Her story inspires me because she lost her mother at a young age, she came to New York with nothing and she now rules the world. She's done some things people don't agree with, but she's an amazing businesswoman and an amazing talent."
Did you practice signing your autograph when you were younger? "As a teenager, yes. It was nothing like I sign it now. I used to try to make it all cool, but now I just sign them like I sign my checks. What you see is what you get."
Do you prefer being part of a crowd or being alone? "I use to think I wanted to be part of the crowd, and I'm a people person, but there are times when I don't want to talk to anybody or entertain anybody. These days' I'm leaning more toward being by myself."
What's the first thing you're going to do after this interview? "I'm going to Starbucks for a chai tea latte. That's my Friday ritual: I get a chai tea latte, sit on my balcony and learn my script for Monday."
