Title: The Guilt
Cheryl - January 3, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
So it's painfully obvious that Kendall seems it only right for her to go to prison and be separated from Zach and the boys for what she has done. But it probably has less to do with Greenlee and more about her betrayal to Zach.
How long do you think the guilt will last? Do you think that she will be the one to breakdown and admit to Zach what happened between her and Aidan? Or do you think a third party will find out and blow the whole thing sky high?

Kendall always has guilt about something. She one of the very, very few people in town who owns their shit. Unfortunately, that means she also takes on more than her share of guilt. She shouldn't feel bad for feeling angry or wanting revenge on someone who hurt her kids. You hear about mothers (or parents in general) flipping out when something happens to their kids. It makes it even more difficult when that person is in your face every damn day and when others make you feel like you shouldn't be feeling the way you are. But that's Kendall for ya, right? Fiercely protective with a heart bigger than her body.
I also think that the incident will come out in the worst way possible, probably through a third party. You know, this way it's more "fun."

Of course it's going to come out from someone else. She has to have even more guilt because she couldn't come out and tell Zach the truth.
Why do they feel they have to dump all this crap on her all the time? I mean Erica does something bad, no remorse. Ryan almost beats his wife to death, no remorse. Don't even get me started on Greenbitch!

Word, Des. It’s like two ends of the spectrum. Greenlee and Ryan pay lip service to their supposed guilt, but their actions don’t match their words. Kendall takes on far too much guilt, by comparison, and acts on it. Take her line about being ‘honoured’ to have Jackson represent her. That asshole abandoned her, and will do it again whenever Greenlee deems it necessary, and yet she feels so guilty, she’s convinced herself Jack’s doing her a favour. The man was practically giddy when they confirmed that the blood on that road was Zach’s, and he, by his own admission, was ready to destroy Kendall in the blink of an eye moments after assuring her she had his support. There have been a lot of things that have pissed me off about this show lately, but Jack’s ‘father’ bullshit drove me over the edge.
I’ve veered off-topic, LOL. The guilt thing is part of Kendall’s character, but this is ridiculous. And don’t’ kid yourselves – she feels guilty about ‘cheating’ on Zach, but the writers will make it damn clear that she feels almost as guilty about betraying Greenlee by sleeping with Aidan. It’s a complete regression. They’re trying to write 2004Kendall in 2008, and its complete and utter lunacy.
And while I’d love for Kendall to confess, and I think she’ll want to (and come close on occasion). But I think Aidan and Erica (the former for his own selfish reasons, the latter to protect her daughter) will pressure her to keep quiet. And honestly, in the real world, I would probably take that position, too. But this is a soap, where secrets are only kept so they can be revealed. They’ll do it in a way that makes Kendall feel even guiltier. Hell, Aidan might even come clean first, paving the way for Greens to drop the bomb on her new BFF, Zach. My fear is that they’ll push so much guilt on her, she won’t even feel worthy enough to try and win Zach back. And if that happens, I’ve got a trip to NYC in my future.

You really couldn't let me live in peace on Denial Island anymore huh? Sheesh. I guess I need to get ready for the full blown Kenlee.

Awww, sorry C. It was one of those mornings at work, and then I riled myself up with all the Jackson talk.
But I won't assume responsibility for Goose on your shopping list. You know you would have bought that regardless. :)

Kendall feels horrible, Kendall is being treated like garbage, Kendall is about to lose everything...hey, Greenlee must be nearby! BFF FOREVAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I am in total agreement that Kendall is confessing so ardently in court because she is punishing herself for what she believes was her betrayal of Zach. Wednesday show so clearly showed her self-hate in her inability to tell Zach what happened between her and Aiden. Someone has to tell her that she had an emotional breakdown and whatever happened in the cabin did not constitute betrayal of a husband she loved and believed to be dead.
Today in court Kendall showed how much more of a woman she is than Greenlee will ever be by taking full responsibility for everything she has done. Greenlee came to court, but did not offer Kendall the defense that would have freed her from any charges. Greenlee did not confess to kidnapping Spike. Jack was fully aware of the kidnapping and did not use it in Kendall's defense. Instead he used emotional duress, which was a much weaker defense and the judge could very easily have convicted her on all charges to which Kendall confessed freely. Jack IMO should be disbarred for conflict of interest and misrepresentation of his client.

THIS is part of the reason I didn't like the court scenes today. There is no way in hell! That Jack should be defending Kendall. He knows everything that happened; he's defended Greenlee in the kidnapping case and covered up for her when she really DID kidnap Spike. There is a conflict of interest. He can't defend Kendall because he has information that will get her off but will put another client in jail. Not only do they need more lawyers in PV but Jack should NEVER have gotten his license back.
I'm just really tired of Kendall getting the short end of the stick and everyone else walking around like their shit don't stink.

Amen Sister!!! I wish the Slater family could just pick up and leave that damn town. Everyone is determined to beat them down because they can't stand the fact they are they a loving, bonded family, Erica, Josh and Myrtle being the exceptions.
Why can't Kendall have a friend in that town, someone that actually listens to her and worries about her. No, I like my original idea better, let them leave town!!! Let THE SLATERS begin!!!!
zenamo - January 4, 2008 05:39 AM (GMT)
I, too, hate the "Kendall must feel guilty for everything that happens in PV" thing that's happening now. She doesn't just feel guilty for the stuff she's done, but all the stuff that other people have done to her, and that's not cool.
She has soooooooooooooooooooo much guilt right now for the 12/19 nightmare that it just kills me. Her keeping the secret is bound to be a disaster because someone else will find out first and spill it in the worst possible way - because that's always the way it works in PV, right? So then there'll be even more guilt. I feel like she's not telling now because of the betrayal guilt, because she doesn't want to hurt Zach anymore, because she doesn't want to hurt GB anymore (barf - I hate GB!!!), but also because she can't ask Zach to forgive her for something that she can't forgive herself for, and because she thinks it will really be the end of her family.
I hate this Greenlee Redemption Storyline - the Apotheosis of Saint Greenlee has just been the most sickening storyline to hit PV in a long time. I hope it ends soon and Kendall can get some peace and happiness soon!!!
Ruth - January 4, 2008 01:51 PM (GMT)
Of course a third maybe even a fourth party will spill the beans, before Kendall has a chance.
after watching the show yesterday, I sent a nasty e-mail to TIIC, but after thinking more about it last night and this morning, I think maybe I should have sent more.
Kendall basically told the judge she did what she just because she felt like it, the bitch did nothing wrong but be a friend. And why was Jackass there?? He didn't defend Kendall, she may as well have been there by herself. I'm still trying to figure out what greenmee said to change the judge's mind.
Can't wait for Ryan to take the bullet today causing even more guilt for Kendall and Zach. because we all know THEY WILL FEEL THE GUILT

What made me angry today is the way everyone is into Greenlee worship. Kendall is the heroine of the day. Kendall's exemplary behavior in court made Greeenlee look pale by comparison. She is the only woman in PV who stood up and took responsibility for her actions at great risk to herself. She had made a promise to God and kept it. Her confession was also her way of self-punishment for what she believes she has done to hurt her husband. She told Zach that by taking responsibility for her actions, might be a way to remove the bad karma from their lives.
Kendall is to be admired for not saving herself at the expense of others. She defended herself only by her own actions without involving G’s kidnapping guilt or Zach’s participation, which led her to mistakenly believe that G was planning to kidnap Spike again. She took all the fault solely onto her own shoulders.
Didn’t anyone notice that Greenlee saved Kendall by default, because the judge swallowed G’s lame sob story. I could have easily gone the other way. The only sure way of saving K from the charges that she willingly confessed to was G admitting in court that she actually kidnapped Spike and that K was justified in seeing a clear and present danger to Spike and taking action to protect her son. K should IMO not do community service nor be punished in any way. It disgusts me that no one sees the wrong that has been done K. Everyone including K believes that G saved the day. I do not. IMO the writers have insulted the audience as well as all characters connected with this lame s/l and have taken the legal system back to the stone age.
