Title: This was our bar in LA...Only not
Jermetria - March 11, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
I have to say the scabs are very creative when it comes to back story. Anybody else remember that trip Kendall was telling Ryan about?
Jules - March 11, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
They're not quite as nervy as the scabs who killed off Jesse in 1988, but yeah, rewriting history by creating this bar was a surprise.
However, and I'm going to take a deep breath before I type this, I'm going to give the writers credit for all the things they didn't do today: No flashbacks, be they real or recreated (and I was expecting those to pop up). Making the bar a place where bad things happened, not a magical place for their stellar love. Having Ryan not hit on Kendall every few seconds. (He managed to have a conversation with her for part of the time, even if it wasn't well-written.) Mentioning Zach without insulting him. Not showing Aidan's facial reaction to everything Kendall or Ryan said.
I was expecting worse, and I know that my expectations are low, but still, AMC showed some restraint here.

Far be it for me to ever be complimentary of anything that the writers have put on the screen recently, however I did not find the Kendall/Ryan conversation as offensive as I thought I would. I did not like the fact that they had to invent new history, but that aside I think that Kendall for the most part handled herself well. I saw her as a friend trying not to offend a friend, who she believes is in trouble and she wants to help. That is very much in character for Kendall. She has a heart of gold and it gets stomped on by people like Ryan, Greenlee and Aiden all the time. Only Zach sees it and appreciates it and perhaps that is one of the reasons he doesn't want her near Ryan.
I was rather proud of Kendall today. IMO she handled herself with a certain maturity. There was no reason for Zach to worry about his wife with Ryan. I think he would have been proud of her if he witnessed their discussion. Ryan was being a total ass as always. His fixation on Kendall is getting to be more and more annoying. If he had any respect for Kendall at all he would finally get a clue that she is happily married and has no other feelings but friendship towards him. Holding on to her hands was such a turn off . I liked the way Kendall pulled away, yet she did it with empathy not wanting to offend him. She is handling Ryan with kid gloves as a friend, nothing more.
At one point I became worried that she was going to share the attack with Ryan, but she held back. That is something she should only discuss with Zach and I so hope she does and soon as she promised Aiden.
What right did Ryan have to ask about her relationship with Aiden. Kendall owed him no explanation, yet she explained without hesitation. It saddened me a little when she answered Ryan’s claim that Zach was a lucky man. She was feeling unworthy of Zach’s love and just fluffed it off as being high maintenance. The guilt of what happened with Aiden is draining Kendall’s self-worth. At what point is she going to feel that she doesn’t deserve Zach and allow the vultures to swoop in?
Annie was being as bitchy as GB. IMO she is two-faced. She apologizes to Zach for attacking Kendall in the sextet elevator, but today you could see her claws coming out at Kendall again while playing up to Greenlee. Wait till Ryan starts remembering Greenlee.
I wish that Zach could have seen his saintly Annie today. She's one that will turn on a dime if it is not to her interest. I wonder what will happen if and when Zach finds out that Richie closed the "hole" and left them to die? Personally I don't want this woman anywhere near Zach or Spike and Ian, just as much as I don't want GB there. At least GB's claws are always visible. Annie withdraws hers at will.

My girl is too nice. Friend or not, Ryan's hands wouldn't have been anywhere near me. It's funny how both she and Zach handle "friends" making passes at them in the same way. I think they're letting them down too easy. LOL Ryan came across as a pig, just looking to get laid. It was disgusting, but surprisingly he showed a little more sensitivity than he has in the past. He seemed to never care about Kendall's relationship with Zach before, but this time he actually asked! Color me shocked.
I guess the writers got tired of us saying that things never happened that way, so they wrote a whole new Ryan/Kendall memory to just shut us up, only not. I consider my self lucky that they didn't feel the need to recreate it in flashbacks.
I do like how Kendall was all about Zach and that her and Ryan's conversation ended on the right person, Zach!!! That tells me where her heart always is.
Is Ryannie done? I think so. I do find it interesting that now, knowing all that he knows, Ryan is still not the least bit curious about Annie and Emma. I they were going Ryannie, wouldn't they take this route at least once? Why couldn't he say, "so Kendall, tell me about Annie"...something
Seems like that would have been the perfect time for him to learn about his "present from Kendall". This one track mind thing he has going on with Kendall and 2004 is absolutely comical.
Was Aidan protecting Kendall by following her? I didn't quite get that part.
I liked how Erica mentioned that Josh and Zach would be handling her business affairs.
Should I get my hopes up for Colin? Two days in a row for Josh! Josh got a scene yesterday and a mention today. Things must be looking up? JoAnnie? What could you possibly call Josh and Annie? LOL
I'm waiting for Thursday... Zach and Kendall together again! :hug

Rewriting history is something I've come to expect from the Bears and today's show was no different.
I too am going to concentrate on the positive and for me I totally loved that Kendall did not take the blame for everything that happened with her and Ryass. That for me was a biggy. I also give credit to Lish/Kendall on how she behaved with him. Today more than ever she showed how far she has come and what a mature woman she has become. She handled the situation with grace and tact and I especially loved how she pulled her hands out of his without making a big deal out of it. Kendall has a huge heart and I expected her to be caring and not nasty with Ryass. I loved how she told him about her wedding to Zach and I think her feeling not good enough for Zach is part of her guilt but also because she knows what a truly special guy she has. I too was thankful that we didn't get any flashbacks (do you think maybe the Bears are getting a clue) and I liked how she spoke about GB in that she didn't glorify her but said how she always gets what she wants. As for Ryass, the man is just an ass and always will be but hopefully (for all of us) he got the message.
The contrast of GB acting like a spoiled brat to Kendall acting like a woman was well done. GB and Ryass totally deserve each other. They want what they want and don't care whose body they have to step over. I loved that the other ladies respect Kendall.
LoveyouLish - March 12, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
Lish was great in those scenes. She was trying to be nice, but she made no bones about the fact that, as she has said before, in public, "Kendall is all about Zach". It was very evident by her behavior towards Ryan that she wasn't interested in the same way he is.
What really almost scared me today was what looks like a new unholy alliance between Annie and the Bidget. The other day when Greenlee said to Zach, "I hate your wife", poor Zach, I don't think he has any idea she's NOT kidding, and Annie was hating on her pretty good herself today. Annie is pissed at the wrong person, and I'm just afraid it's going to backfire on Kendall when the ONS comes out. Kendall needs to watch her back around those two; they make "Mean Girls" look like Little Bo Peep, IJS.

Kendall/Ryass - I, too, liked the way Kendall handled herself. I'm glad she put more of the blame on Ryass and GB this time too. She must have said that he broke her heart about fifty times. Ryass is still creepy, inappropriate, and a jerk. Same old, same old. What was the purpose of Aidone lurking? Why did he go to the bar in the first place? Was is just me, or did he look jealous when he first saw them together? Ugh.
Erica/Jackass - Erica should not have to go on and on about how "wonderful" Jackass is. It's making me ill. Yeah, sure, he's wonderful--when he's not treating her like the dirt beneath his feet! She deserves so much better! Loved that she mentioned Josh and Zach.
Adam/KWAK/Tad - Not bothered by them nearly as much as I usually am. Loved Adam. And yeah, it was nice to see Tad beg a little. I wish Adam would go ahead and spill about Kate before she's Colby's age though.
Fusion - Okay, so is Amanda the new Simone? She who says tactless things and props Kenlee? Barf. I liked the snark, not the propping. Babe was actually tolerable, but then, almost anyone is tolerable when compared to GB! Annie came in almost tolerable, wondering, like Babe and Amanda, if they needed Kendall, and then turned over to the dark side. WTF was up with the GB/Annie Kendall-hate bonding?!?!? UGH. And GB . . . that good for nothing jealous bitch! She really showed her true colors today and reminded me more of the REAL GB than anything that RB's been able to portray up till now. I HATE HER!!!
Another day of Zach withdrawal.
GO TEAM SLATER!!!

I was expecting worse from the Kendall/Ryan conversation today, too. While I was scratching my head how I could've missed this trip to LA they kept discussing, I was waiting for some nasty flashbacks. For once, I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. I know Kendall wants to help Ryan, because she wants him to remember the last 4 years, and get him to understand the relationship they have as co-parents/friends now. I thought she handled Ryan in a very mature manner, and kept straight to the "facts". She is a caring person and has said that she wants to help Ryan, whether he deserves it or not. She didn't take all the blame, and tried to get him to realize just how far they've come. Unfortunately, it was all on deaf ears for him.
Fusion wasn't quite so high-schoolish today, but Greenlee's tantrum revealed exactly what she thinks. She wants competition, no matter if it's a company, a man, friendship, baby or employee's loyalty. She fights until she wins, all others be damned. I did get a chill when Greenlee and Annie hugged and were so chummy.
I really enjoyed the Erica/Jack scenes. Erica Kane is the only woman who can say, "out of all my 7 husbands, you're the one I had most fun with," and be sincere. Their flashbacks were nice and well-placed.

I loved Kendall today, she pull Ryan in his place and did it with the class and charm that is all her. Loved how she explained how he broke her heart and how it was all him. He didn't deserve her then and he damn sure doesn't deserve her now. She told him with words and with her actions that she is all about Zach and that will never change.
When he asked her about Aidan I thought she would get all nervous and upset and give him even more to be suspicious about, but she didn't even bat an eye as she explained their relationship.
I wonder what made Aidan come to the bar, did he lie to Zach when he told him she was asleep? or did he go check on her and found her missing?
I haven't watched the entire show so I missed all the Fusion stuff, sounds like I didn't miss much.

I agree with a lot of people that Kendall handled herself very well. She was being friendly, not flirty. It could just as easily have been a female friend sitting across the table.
What bugs me is wondering when this whole LA trip was supposed to have occured.
I admit my mind is fuzzy on when things started really going downhill for them. Wasn't it right after the trial? So if the LA trip happened before the trial, then I have to call BS. No way she would have been allowed to leave Pennsylvania when she was about to go on trial for murder.
There's also Bianca getting lost and giving birth, but I think that happened after they broke up. I don't know. That whole time filled me with such rage, I don't really want to look up recaps to clear it up. Some fresh memory will hit me and I'll have to start ranting again.

This is a made up memory the writers came up with.
As far I know there was no trip tp LA.

Same here, I co-sign all the above posts. And hope I'm not in trouble. I wondered if I was the only one who had no memory of said trip.
