Title: Continuity.... It's what's missing
Cheryl - March 14, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
Main Entry: con·ti·nu·i·ty
Pronunciation: \ˌkän-tə-ˈnü-ə-tç, -ˈnyü-\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural con·ti·nu·i·ties
Date: 15th century
1 a: uninterrupted connection, succession, or union b: uninterrupted duration or continuation especially without essential change
2: something that has, exhibits, or provides continuity: as a: a script or scenario in the performing arts b: transitional spoken or musical matter especially for a radio or television program c: the story and dialogue of a comic strip
We've been seeing this for weeks. One day a character will say something that seems right, only to have them completely go against it the very next day. In the past, we've laughed at how some are magically transported from one side of Pine Valley to the other in a blink of an eye.
But today I saw something completely new. When the show started today and the judge was saying he was going to throw the book at Erica, she stood up in outrage, ready to argue. No one was in the seat behind her. No family to support her. Yet, when we returned from commercial break they had all magically appeared. Angry, upset, making scenes in the courtroom as if they had been there the entire time.
Continuity peeps. Use it.

Damn, good eye, Cheryl!
I started off squeeing when Zen arrived hand in hand at the courtroom and enjoyed Erica wanting Zach to find out when the judge is running for reelection. We know that Zach wouldn't hesitate to do that, but for Erica to ask? That was funny.
Glad to see that Greenlee sat two rows behind Erica, and not with Zen. But poor Josh, one row behind his family. That's not right.
I call :bullshit on everyone's conversation about lying and liars and secrets and men in L.A. But I don't care enough over bad writing to get upset, so I won't.
Preview makes me feel better. Thank you, Preview.

Things that made me go hmmm...
Jesse seemed to be the voice of reason today. I loved him telling Tad that he hadn't changed. That he couldn't keep it in his pants. LOL
Funny that he asked Tad if Adam's was the right safe house for Tad to use to hide his family, when I'm asking him if he thinks it's a good idea to "hide" out in the open at Tad's house like that? hmmm...
I liked the Chandler dinner, even though it was repetitive. The show almost felt like a real show for a moment with that scene. I did feel sorry for JR today when Babe dumped him again.
There were times that I couldn't understand Aidan, but it was good to see someone remind Ryan of how selfish he's being. I just wished was by some one I cared about like Zach.
I find it funny that Greenlee said that the reason she was going to court was because she was concerned about Kendall. She didn't talk to Kendall at all once she got there or ask her how she was. Instead, she was all about Zach. Some friend of Kendall's huh?
And as always saving the best for last:
Zen!!! I loved seeing them walking hand in hand together into the court room. I liked seeing Erica's family there to support her. I loved that she wanted Zach to find out about the judge. That was funny. I wish that the conversation turned into the Ryan hour. There were plenty of ways to change the subject and I wished just once that the writers would have taken a different path.
I loved that Zach was concerned about Josh as well as Kendall when Erica was making her plea before the judge.
Based on pre-view, I'm hoping that Monday gives us the quality Zen alone screen time that I'm trying to patiently[ok, impatiently] waiting for. Come on pre-view, don't disappoint.

Jules it seems the only word to be used these days to describe AMC is :bullshit and today was no different.
I have no idea why GB was in that court room except for the fact that they have nothing else to do with this character which has become painfully clear. I did, however, love the way Erica treated her :yay .
I am also loving Erica and Zach. This is the only thing the Bears have done right.
It's getting very hard to comment on this show and I too am beyond the point where I get upset anymore.
Hopefully on Monday GB will be GONE and Zach and Kendall can talk in private.

I loved the fact that Erica was all over Kendall about how much Zach adores her and he is the best thing that ever happened to her, but not so happy that she thinks Kendall can't handle Ryass. Does she really think Kendall is that weak?
I'm glad Aidan told Ryass to stay away from the women , but of course he didn't listen and will do as he pleases because it's all about him.
Zach and GreenB :bullshit I don't get it and never will so stop pushing that relationship down my throat.
I wonder what makes Kendall confess she lied to Zach? I hope it's her conscience and not something GreenB does or says. It looks like they are still in the courthouse.

The writers are placing Ryan and Greenlee in the Slater/Kane family lives and they just don't fit. IMO Greenlee is not being written as a friend to either Zach or Kendall. She is like the proverbial irritant to cause the audience to cringe every time she is in either of their scenes. With Kendall she brings out the imature teenage characteristics and with Zach she regresses him to lose his strong self-confidant personality. Both Kendall and Zach who should be confiding only in each other, confide in her instead, which dumbs them down to regressing back to days of secrets and trust issues.
Ryan on the other hand through his amnesia pulls everyone back to 2004 and time stands still as if PV was put into a time warp. No one involved with him moves forward in their lives, only backwards.
To keep both characters on the AMC tapestry is to stop progress, because they no longer fit into any s/l that would move the characters forward to new ventures. Thus they are like hamsters on the wheel, running in place and going nowhere.
I interpret Erica's conversation with Kendall as Erica reviewing her own life and not wanting Kendall to make the same mistakes. Unfortunately the writing is so bad that it makes it appear that she looks at Kendall as not being able to control her life and fears that she will lose Zach in the process. I did like her praising Zach and wanting Kendall to have amnesia about Ryan.
The Zach and Greenlee conversation IMO was another attempt to push this BFF crap, making it appear that Zach confides in Greenlee but not Kendall and Kendall confides in Greenlee, but not Zach. It totally challenges the previous writing of no secrets and lies between them. I just hope that when Kendall tells Zach the truth about meeting Ryan, that it isn't because Greenlee tells her that Zach already knows.
Commenting on these shows is becoming more and more difficult, because there is no consistency in the writing. There is no s/l, only plot points which change on a
daily basis.

Zach/GB - This has got to stop. Remember last summer, right after Kendall and GB came up with the Fusion Green scent and Kendall and Zach had that convo all about not letting GB suck her back in? It seems to me that GB has not only sucked GB back in, but she's sucked Zach in now too, and that can only lead to disaster. I HATE that she went straight for Zach (going to the courthouse to support Kendall, my ass), I HATE that she spilled about Kendall (although we all saw that one coming a mile away), and I HATE that she's always up in Zen's business now. Before leaving in 2005, she did everything she could to control Kendall, make Zendall miserable, and keep them apart for her own selfish needs. Now she's doing everything she can to control Kendall, make Zendall miserable, get into Zach's pants, and keep Zen apart for her own selfish needs. I HATE HER!!!! She has never been, is not now, and never will be a friend to anyone!!! She has never been, is not now, and never will be worthy of being in the lives of people like Zach and Kendall!!! ARGH!!!
Zach's upset about Kendall lying to him and he confides in GB?!?! What happened to quiet, guarded Zach?!?! He should be upset that Kendall lied, but I agree with those of you who said he needs to be talking to Kendall about that, or, if he can't do that, he needs to be talking to Josh. I'm also worried that the attempted rape by the crazy stalker man is somehow going to be secondary to the Ryass crap. So sick and wrong.
Erica/Kendall - I had mixed feelings about their convo. I didn't like the insinuations that Kendall's just prone to sleep with anyone that happens to be in her way. I did, however, like that Erica was all about being pro-Zen, and I'm hoping that it's her advice to Kendall (and nothing GB-related) that inspires Kendall to tell Zach the truth on Monday. I also liked that Kendall and Erica care so much about each other, and it's gonna suck with Erica in the slam.
Erica/Josh/GB - Thank god Erica is remembering her GB hate. At least someone is! The things coming out of GB's hypocritical mouth were beyond disgusting. The "she's no more a threat to society than I am" line was just so wrong. Because GB's so innocent and harmless?!?! What, do they mean when she's not out driving babies over cliffs in the midst of kidnapping attempts?!?!? Loved that look that Josh gave GB. Seems like the Kane hate for GB is hereditary. If only Kendall would remember it! Love me some Josh these days, and I can only hope that he's on a lot more from now on.
Jackass/Samuel/Judge - What crawled up the judge's ass and died? He was unnecessarily histrionic--needed to have his ass kissed an awful lot before he'd be reasonable . . . so, is he related to GB somehow? Jackass, well, even when he does good things for Erica, I can't like him. I just can't forget how evil he was to Erica and Kendall during the GB "redemption." He is DTM. Samuel is showing his softer side, I like it.
Chandlers/Careys - Yes, Adam, what is it about the Careys? I sure as hell don't get it. UGH. So boring, hypocritical, etc. And, JR, please, not again!
Tad/Jesse - I liked their snark today. That line about Tad being unable to keep it in his pants was great. I wish Jesse would mention the origami that he remembered last week. That might actually be helpful.
Ryass/Aidone - I loved it when Aidone called Ryass a selfish bastard! That was freakin' hilarious. Aidone's a bastard himself--what the hell was up with him when he flashbacked to watching Kendall and Ryass when he was saying "yeah, after all Kendall's been through" to GB? Jerk. And Ryass is such an ass. I don't even what to know what he's up to now. UGH.
GO TEAM SLATER!!!

okay, I'm not getting why Zach is accusing Kendall of lying....last week, he said couples can tell friends things they cannot tell each other...so,how is Kendall lying....whether he asked a direct question or an implied one-I'm not seeing the lie, given previous statements made by Zach......again-its continuity......and for the life of me, I hate that Erica, Greens, Zach, and the ultimate embecile Aidan, all seems to think Kendall is so inlove or weak, that she would cave in to Ryan-just because he asked......GMFB........
Cheryl - March 15, 2008 03:07 PM (GMT)
That is definitely one of those discrepancies. And if Kendall is guilty of lying by omission than Zach is guilty as well, seeing as he didn't tell Kendall about meeting Greenlee for drinks or his little turn on the pole, IJS.
