Title: Pretend he's a potted palm
Jermetria - March 24, 2008 06:23 PM (GMT)
And just like I wtf'd at this line I'm wtf'ing at Erica/Kendall. When did this relationship take a wrong turn?
Cheryl - March 24, 2008 06:34 PM (GMT)
So it would seem now that Erica thinks Zach is the new Ryan. Now that the sun rises and sets with Zach, she thinks Kendall should be thanking her lucky stars that he is giving her the time of day. Ugh.
I must admit something Zach said today totally amused me. "I prefer tulips." BWAH! Okay... so was I the only one to remember the joke:
What's better than roses on your piano? Tulips on your organ."
Just me? Okay.... I'll show myself out! LOL
Jules - March 24, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
I'll give today's writer some points for writing Kerica's scenes with a little more explanation on Kendall's part as to why she'd been interested in helping Ryan so that Erica knows that it's all about Spike for Kendall. I also thought that Kendall's responses overall, and AM's performance, made it clear that Erica is worried for nothing. I particularly liked how AM said the line about Kendall not feeling a spark for Aidan because there was dismissal from Kendall, like it's not worth talking about. However, I can't say I liked the scenes very much.
I do think that alot of what we saw was a sloppy attempt by the writer to make it clear that Zendall is the couple to root for. Good intention, bad execution, IMO.
I won't complain with the limited Zen in bedroom scenes we got today. TK and AM did what they could with a few lines and their ad libs made me howl with laughter. I also loved that Zach was wearing a faded Red Wings shirt. I can't help but think that TK brought that from home yet again, and that makes me smile.
The foreshadowing was so thick in the air, I almost choked on it. From Carmen telling Kendall that there are no happy endings in love because something always kicks you in the ass, to Erica's repeated praises for Zach and the Slaters' marriage, you just know trouble is coming. But at least I'm seeing on my TV screen that AMC knows that Zen is one couple that will survive whatever happens, when it happens.
Jermetria - March 24, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
At least we have the contract writer's back. Hopefully we'll see more of an improvement.
Diva - March 24, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
I am liking the Carmen character so far. She is Erica's opposite in background, yet their banter is very entertaining and if the writing doesn't ruin it, should add some good humor to the show.
Erica's conversation with Kendall is just the same script we have heard before and ranted about. It is nothing more than a slap in the face to all of us who have been defending Kendall's character after they took her OOC for the "grief sex". Kendall's relationship with both Aidan and Ryan has been nothing more than friends. I have seen no indications that Kendall is any way, shape or form interested in either of those boring men. She has the most fascinating sexy husband that she is in love with, so why this constant ridiculous barrage of innuendos from Erica that imply otherwise. I wish this stupid juvenile writing would just cease and let's get on with some mature story telling. I did like Erica's praiseworthy words about Zach. She has really turned the corner where he is concerned.
I know that I should be thrilled about the little Zex that we were treated to today...I'm becoming very easy to please with the crumbs they feed us on AMC these days. However, I am disappointed that they are not showing Zach and Kendall as the good parents that they are. Why couldn't we have seen them come home, tuck their two sons into bed before making love? Why is there such a problem for these writers to give us the small touches of a real married couple with two small children? That is who Zach and Kendall are. We haven't seen Ian since Christmas. They hardly mention him in their conversations any more. Such a lack of realism and continuity for a daily show.
The Angie/Jesse s/l still doesn't peak my interest. I did like the dialog a little better today, but the story itself is just not making me want to see more.
KathyNYC - March 24, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
I keep trying to remind myself that actually Erica does not really know what happened with Aidan and Kendall. Kendall told her that they were both upset, they didn't mean for it to happen, etc...but that is all she knows.
Kendall did not tell Erica what really happened...that she was hysterical with grief and trying to tell Aidan to keep faith that they will find the people they love. But Aidan was screaming at her and hurling insults at her, and kept screaming at her that Zach was dead and to face the truth. And that she was sobbing and asking for her husband over and over.. and still Aidan did not let up...until he broke her and she could not feel anything but numb and then she made a mistake. (well the writers did but for arguments sake).
Erica does not know what really happened....so I can sort of excuse her for what she is saying. She is commenting about a situation as she thinks it happened..not how it really happened. Sadly, I would like the writers to remember how it happened as well.
I like Carmen too..and I loved the two second conversation between her and Zach. It made me laugh. ANd I like her with Erica.
Jesse and Angie's storyline should be way more interesting than it is. These writers can ruin just about anything.
Dianna08 - March 24, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
I miss the loving, supportive Erica that we saw just a few short months ago. While I am glad that Erica is now supportive of Zen’s relationship, I am afraid that it has come at the expense of Kendall/Erica’s relationship. I mean Erica is about to go away to prison and all she can do is stand around talking about Zach, Aidan and Ryan and telling Kendall to make sure she keeps her legs closed (except for Zach). Um Hello Erica (writers) how about Erica spending the little time she has to say goodbye to her daughter, telling her daughter how much she loves her and that she will miss her. I hated those Kerica scenes, Erica is really pissing me off lately. Why can’t Erica be supportive of Kendall’s marriage and her daughter all at the same time? But no we get Erica basically calling her daughter a dirty rotten whore. Erica has gone and lost her damn mind, again.
I was LMAO when Erica was telling Carmen to visualize new personal growth for herself, new goals and Carmen said “My goal is to stab Mando Ortiz straight through the heart”. That was funny. As of right now, I like Carmen, but I have no doubt that the writers will eventually find a way to ruin her. Why not, they try to ruin every other character they write for.
I loved how Lish played Kendall today. Kendall was rightfully acting like Erica was an idiot, and Erica is an idiot. I also loved that Kendall was so determined to do something special for Zach. We get to see Zach do special things for Kendall all the time so it was a nice change of pace to see Kendall trying to do something special for Zach. Although it would have been nice if it were a longer scene, but hey at this point I will take what little Zen I can get.

Kathy, but there in lies the problem. The writers have decide to make us forget what really happened. They have been re-writing the "grief" sex as more of an affair. Just review all the convos between Kendall and Aiden and Erica's innuendoes. I have not forgotten and will not allow them to blacken Kendall's character with their re-writes to fit a plot driven agenda. As far as I am concerned I saw what I saw and no writer's pen is going to erase my memory. Aiden broke Kendall emotionally until she was numbed into near unconsiousness, screaming for her husband and then Aiden took advantage of her. It was not a one night stand and that is why I am referring to it as "grief sex" , for want of a better term. I think that a mistake was made to refer to it as ONS on the boards. This only gave the writers a way out to make it appear that it was something more. I am as guilty as the next for using that abbreviated term without thinking, but I will never do it again.
Kendall has shown no attraction to either Aiden or Ryan. She has been acting as a friend to both and there is no reason for Erica to believe otherwise. Erica's character IMO is being used to insinuate and malign Kendall's character. I liked that Kendall looked at Erica as if she was loosing her mind, because there were no grounds for her insinuations. AM played it perfectly. I just wish there was more consistency in the writing instead of changing horses in mid stream. It is bad enough that they took Kendall totally OOC on 12.19 and now they are trying to make it into something that it was not.
KathyNYC - March 24, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
I totally agree Diva...which is why I am blaming the writers, not Erica.
Erica has no clue what really happened..because the writers have shamlessly disregarded what really happened.
I have NO trouble blaming the writers for this..but I can excuse Erica "somewhat" because she is just reacting to what knowledge she has, not for what was written.

You're right Kathy. However, the credits for today's show go I believe to Beall, Walsh and Beldner, so that we can't fault scab writing anymore. Story line directions must be coming from B&E.
Cheryl - March 24, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
I believe it is safe to say that we all hate this ridiculous rewriting of not just history but very RECENT history that is occurring on our screens. Making it appear that Kendall has underlying feelings for anyone other than her husband is total crap.
Unfortunately, it is a rewrite we will have to contend with, much like that of Greenlee kidnapping Spike and driving him off a cliff, or Spike's primary diagnosis regarding his hearing loss.
I'm not saying we need to accept it. But for the sake of conversation on the board, let's please move on.
SlaterFamily - March 24, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
Perhaps I'm the only crazy one...but listening to Erica today talk about an attraction Kendall feels for Aidan (which all know is not there)...I had this feeling that Erica was talking more about herself and her attraction for a certain Senator, but she loves Jack.
What I hate most about Erica / Kendall's conversations.....is that Erica is assuming Kendall will make the same mistakes she has made. Kendall is not in love nor does she want Aidan or Ryan. That is clear as day on my screen. If anything...it just shows me even more that the only person who really knows Kendall, is Zach.
I thank AM for how she portrayed Kendall today - she did her best not to roll her eyes at Erica's advice on picturing Aidan as a potted plant, but pretty much held her own and again showed that she loves her husband and only her husband.
As for Carmen....hmm...I'm not sure that I would say she's the best person to listen to when it comes to love.
Kendall's been through the ringer, she's been hurt by love - Zach has hurt her - but they have made it through and I continue to believe, despite whatever Erica says to Kendall, Zen is the couple that will make it through in the end.
I too loved the scenes of Zen at the house...it was nice just to see the two of them together - laughing, smiling and loving each other. It was also nice to see them both casual in their bedroom - and flirting.
They brought a smile to my face......I thank TK and AM for giving us that.

Line of the day goes to Erica.
"When you think of Aidan visualize something bland, a potted palm in a hotel lobby blending into the background." [Sorry if it isn't exact, it's funny].
I guess I haven't been paying enough attention. I'm just as lost as Jesse. I still don't know why he was "shot" or even tortured and then wanted dead. What info does he have that they want? Nevermind, I've already asked more questions than I really want to know the answers to.
Ryan, I can't escape him. He wasn't even on today and still managed to be a topic of conversation. Why would Erica worry about or want to talk about anything else, as long as Ryan's around? LOL
I loved the Zen scenes. I loved how close Zach and Kendall were standing to each other at the jail. I did like a little bit of the banter, Kendall and Zach were talking about each other to Erica.
I loved too that we got to see a little bit of the romantic sexy Zen. Their talk of the bath, roses vs. tulips was cute. They worked for me today. Their bedroom scene was very similar to the ones we used to get with McT, believe it or not. I'm happy for the Zendall that we did get and that we saw the zedroom. Yep, I'm taking the crumbs.
I love that Zendall ending on a loving happy note. They didn't have to even give us the last kissing scenes. I'm taking that as a good sign. It makes me want to fight for them more.
On the writing: has it been 2 weeks yet?

My 2 minute and 12 second clip of the show didn't include the bull. So, I'm a happy AMC viewer today. heee. Thanks, Shurl! :)

I like your way of thinking, Crystal. I just might have to do the same.

Yeah, I'm left with more questions than answers with Jesse's s/l. It makes absolutely no sense. This is another case of: It looks good on paper but doesn't translate well on screen.

Aidan = potted palm? LMFAO.
TKLOVER - March 25, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
I, too, noticed a lot of anvils dropping. Loved the Zen, brief as it was, AM/TK rocked it as usual & it was a total surprise for me. HAWT! Erica seems to insinuating something more sinister than grief sex imo & that's just wrong. I think Carmen is a hoot so far. Loved the RW's jersey! Hope we get Ian soon.
MinKayefan - March 25, 2008 05:36 AM (GMT)
[SIZE=1]Erica, talking to Kendall, big, huge WTF? moment.....I did/do love her praise of Zach...I am also, wondering why it is at the expense of her daughter....Carmen, is bringing the funny.....Jessie-it is a total crap story...not believable....Zen, was perfection today, for me....always miss the boys.....
oohh, I loved Zach telling Erica, that with his Lady, he doesn't need the armor.....so, emotional....

You're not crazy I thought the same thing. I also felt Erica was talking about herself and her attraction over the years to anyone who was interested in her or she thought was hot (I personally don't think either Aidass or Ryass are hot). Lish/Kendall played it perfectly giving her the WTF look. I also think Erica realizes what she had with Jackass and how she destroyed it because of Jeff (and others over the years) and she sees what Kendall has with Zach (her one true love) and doesn't want her to destroy that. I do think the writers could have done a better job of portraying how Erica was making the comparison to herself but, of course, they didn't (bad writing all around).
As for the Zen scenes, they were beautiful as usual but, of course, too short. I'm hoping it continues today since they will be home and hopefully we'll see Ian.
I am so sick of hearing about the ONS and Kendall worrying about it and beating herself up. I just want the old feisty Kendall back. I was watching the SS story over the weekend and I loved that strong, feisty Kendall who fought for her husband. That's what I want to see on my screen.
The rest of the show was boring. I was thrilled when I heard J/A we're coming back but the bears managed to ruin that whole story and I really don't care who did what and why.
I'm liking Carmen. I liked that she called Zach "big guy" and wanted to know if he would let his girl drive a getaway car (too funny). I only wish that we heard more of her conversation with Zach (I'm sure TK would have had some great lines).
I also think Jackass was right on when he said GB was just like Erica. She is. She wants all the attention all the time and Jackass deserves anything he gets from his bitch of a daughter.
