Title: Accidental or intentional?

Cheryl - April 11, 2008 06:25 PM (GMT)
Was Annie's little slip an accident or was it an attempt to ruin Zach and Kendall's happy union? I don't know for sure. I'll let you all have at it first and be back later.

Jules - April 11, 2008 06:34 PM (GMT)

I don't think Annie's an angel, but I do think that she's so self-involved that she can't see past Ryan, around whom her life revolves. Her slip was stupid and thoughtless and the one good thing about it was that it got her to shut up about her problems.

I was so happy with the writing for Kendall today. I always like it when she and Erica have scenes together, but I loved that Kendall was so sure that she's doing the right thing and that her marriage can survive this. This is a far cry from the woman who wondered and debated and ultimately had Aidan Devane convince her to keep quiet, as much for Greenlee as for Zach. You know what? Aidan's wrong and his reasons for suggesting that were selfish. You know what else? Kendall took charge of her marriage today, with total conviction. This is the Kendall we've been missing for too long. Heck, I'd go so far as to say that I haven't seen Kendall this strong since pre-Crash.

She knows this won't be easy, but she's doing it anyway. I loved how AM played it--sure in her decision, but also scared of hurting her husband.

My heart was in my throat during that last scene. Two great actors who just looked at each other did that to me. This is going to be intense, but I'm soooooo ready for it.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait till Monday.

I am so hopeful and encouraged about this reveal. But, damn! The Bears are still around and I am waiting for the sucker punch.

Diva - April 11, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
I loved the way they wrote Kendall today. Finally we got the old Kendall back. The woman that will fight for the people that she loves and she loves Zach passionately. I loved how she told Erica her belief that her marriage can survive and that she needed to tell Zach the truth. A part of me wants to criticize Erica's behavior today, but she is a mother who is concerned for her daughter's happiness, so I will cut her some slack. Her advice to keep the secret was wrong and I admired Kendall's determination to disagree with her mother and tell her that she believed in Zach's love and that her marriage can survive it. Kudos to Kendall!!!

There is no doubt that Erica loves and admires Zach and feels that he is the best that has ever happened to Kendall, however she has a lot to learn about this man that unconditionally loves Kendall. He prefers the truth no matter how painful it might be. Kendall is finally understanding and trusting her husband....Erica still has to learn. It will be a rough road, however at the end their's will be a more lasting relationship and a stronger marriage.

Erica's argument, just as Aiden's, that telling Zach will be selfish and will only relieve Kendall's guilt, is wrong. I hope that Kendall tells Zach how many times she wanted to tell him, but was stopped by their advice.

Now to Annie. I'm sorry Jules, but I beg to disagree. Annie has been written recently as self-absorbed and jealous of Kendall. She has not appreciated anything that Kendall has done to help her and Ryan. Zach considers Annie family, however where was she when Zach was missing? Never once did she come to Kendall and offer to help her deal with Zach's disappearance. She only comes to Zach when she needs to cry on his shoulders.

Today was no different. There was no need for her to babble about the Aiden/Kendall conversation. She did it intentionally, because she told Kendall that she didn't believe her explanation and this was an opportunity to tell Zach. The look she gave Zach after he got up to leave was smug, when she saw his reaction. Her jealousy of Kendall was rewarded and Zach was just collateral damage. She is filled with self pity and wants other people to hurt as well.

Jules - April 11, 2008 07:38 PM (GMT)
Diva, I'm at work and can't watch the clips. I've only seen the episode once. If she looked smug, that's telling. Watching live, I didn't see it and may have missed it.

Maybe we'll learn more on Monday. After all, Annie will definitely be in bitch mode as she goes after Greenlee. Perhaps we will find out her true motives then.

But I do believe some of the blame has to be placed on Aidan's shoulders. He made things worse with his terrible cover up today. If he didn't say anything about that night at Annie's, then perhaps she wouldn't have even remembered it to tell Zach.
Who knows.

I think it will take more than one look from Annie to decide this question.

zks - April 11, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
I believe Annie has been written in self-absorbed mode lately. However, I think she deliberately blabbed to Zach. She wanted to stir something up. She still blames Kendall for Ryan only remembering her.

Alina - April 11, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Just going to chime in and say it looked unintentional to me. I'll buy she's stupid, self-involved, etc but I just didn't sense she slipped on purpose. Whatever her twisted feelings are about Kendall, I don't think she'd deliberately try to hurt Zach with this especially when he's taken the time to actually be so supportive of her. JMO.

Jules - April 11, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
Alina, I've rewatched, and IA with you and stand by my original post.

phyllisshnell - April 11, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
See how good a show can be without Ryan being the sole topic of conversation?
I didn't miss his @ss at all today, don't get me wrong. But damn if his amnesia story and Richie's doesn't bring the whole show down.

Today show makes me think it's possible to get my show back. The one I fell in love with. An actual birthday party that didn't seem thrown just for plot purposes but for character purposes Jenny's 1[history], Joe, Ruth, Opal[vets], believable character driven tension[Kwak/Adam,Frankie/Colby,JR/Babe,Tad/Ruth/Robert], I'm giddy just thinking about it.

I liked Tad and Aidan's exchange at the beginning. I loved Tad and Zach talking, his mentioning Erica and Kendall. And although it would kill me, but they even set up the next generation beautifully with Tad calling Zach a ladies man and joking about the Slater boys and Jenny 20 years from now. [please kill me now ladies if Spenny or Jian ever happens LOL]

I can't think one thing that was really out of place at that party. It was all good. Now if Ian could finally have a christening, all would be right with the world.

For the record, I didn't think Annie intentionally said what she said about Kendall and Aidan, but once she said it, she didn't do a very good job of backtrakcing or trying to explain. She ran to avoid the subject, thanks Annie. That being said, if her crying on Zach's shoulders moves this story forward[which it did, then yeah]B!tch LOL

Would have been nice for her to return the favor to Zach by asking if he was okay. But I've spent too much time talking about her, all she is is a plot point theses day anyway.

Kendall, hello gorgeous. It's good to see you again. I love that Kendall pointed out to Erica the differences in their views on marriage. I actually loved their conversation. Especially Kendall saying that their marriage would survive the truth. I loved the ending, Oh My God.

Damn, TK: Zach was awesome in that last scene from when he and the boys came home to when he looked at the picture and then Kendall walked in. I love the passion that these two have. Shame on AMC for thinking they could recreate it, or try to share the wealth by breaking Zendall up and putting Zach or Kendall with any one of the four. You can't force it, it's just there. They don't fit the soap formula, period. That last minute of the show is why Zach and Kendall are the super couple that they are and why they will always have rooting value.

I can't wait till Monday. Zendall will come out from this stronger than ever. They'll survive this. How do I know? Because they've survived everything else. :zendallforever

Diva - April 11, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
The reason I believe that Annie’s slip was intentional is that she not only heard Aiden’s comment, she discussed it with Kendall and told Kendall that she does not believe her explanation. That alerted Annie that the guilt is over something serious happening between them. Therefore I would have expected her to be very careful of what she told her friend Zach if she cared about his feelings. Taking her feelings of jealousy towards Kendall into consideration, I stand by my original interpretation that the slip was a lot more than a slip of the tongue.

But I agree with Phyllis, that if this moves the s/l forward I'm all for it.

TKLOVER - April 11, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure it was intentional, but I think once she said it she enjoyed it a bit too much for my taste. JMO Any rate, Zach is collateral damage & that's the real sad part of it. AM/TK are so gonna rock this
Monday & I have my Kleenex supply ready! Bring it!

How many times did Jenny change clothes? I didn't notice that.
But now that I see the dress, I think Kendall should buy Jenny's clothes from now on. The boys jumpers were cuter than anything Jenny wore today.

Ruth - April 12, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
I think it was intentional because of the way she said "then Kendall shows up looking for Ryan. She blames the fact that Ryan only remembers her and wants her to suffer and if hurting Zach will may it happen then so be it. And when Zach was leaving and she said "was it something I said" I knew then she did it on purpose.

She leaves and goes to Greenlee, I wonder if she'll tell her also? Probably not because she knows Greenlee will dump Adian and head straight to Ryan.

Monday is going to hurt, and I'm not sure if I'm ready for it. The pictures of Zach and Kendall from the preview were heartbreaking, I can just imagine what the actual show will be like.

zenamo - April 12, 2008 06:07 AM (GMT)
I'm actually excited to see Monday's episode!

Jenny's Party - There was so much going on there. I was kinda pissed that Jenny's first birthday was so good while Spike's was ruined by DFS, but whatever. . . .

It was great to see the vets out and about. I liked most of the interactions going on.

Tad/Ruth/Opal/Etc. & Creepy Uncle Rob - Makes me cringe and shudder way too much--Creepy Uncle Rob should have been kicked out the instant that Ruth was uncomfortable. Jesse and Tad shouldn't be so dense about his obvious evil, and Opal should be able to pick up the vibes.

Angie/Jesse - I'm tired of the horny Hubbards thing.

JR/Adam - Don't think Adam belonged, really, but DC's fantastic. I'm loving the Chandler boys teaming up again. I love it when they get in schemer mode together.

Colby/Frankie - Colby's seventeen, and Frankie had a kid with Mia. I'm sorry, there's just too much of an ick factor there.

Zach/DFS2 (I really like that moniker, so thanks to whoever came up with it) - I don't think she spilled on purpose, per se, but she certainly made no effort to censor herself in her constant woe-is-me-the-poor-put-upon-devoted-wife ranting, and once it was out, she made it so much worse with her lame-ass cover-up attempts. Bitch enjoyed getting at Kendall any way that she could. It was obvious that she didn't care about hurting Zach. DFS2 was never a favorite with me--mostly a source of boredom or irritation--but she has crossed way over the line. Her holier-than-thou hypocrite status is just too much to bear. I hope something really terrible happens to her. She's always complaining about how she deserves better than she's getting--I don't think so, she doesn't know the meaning of suffering.

Zach is far too kind to her. When he called her family and didn't get the bitch response that Kendall got, it made me sick. He's all attentive and supportive, and it killed me to see him treated like nothing more than DFS2's support system/instrument of inflicting pain on Kendall. The look on his face was heart-wrenching. I felt so bad for him. TK just sucks you right in and makes you feel for Zach in a way that not many others can do. Love him! So sad, but loving it!

I liked Zach with Tad and the babies too. Did anyone else pick up on the fact that when Zach was talking about his son "the ladies man" and Tad said the kid "takes after his old man," they were saying it as in Spike not only being Zach's son, but Zach being the old man that he takes after? I'm not saying there's a need for a DNA test, but I just liked the fact that both Zach and Tad consider Zach not only to be Spike's father, but his father-figure as well. You know what I mean? Sorry if I'm rambly, but I just though it was cool that it was as if Ryass has no influence over Spike whatsoever.

DFS/Aidone - Disgusting. Gag. Blech. Ick. Ack. Ugh. My eyes. Eeeww. Don't feel like saying more than that.

Kendall/Erica - They just killed me today. SL and AM were both fantastic. Loved that Erica loves Zach, loves Kendall, and loves Zen. Loved that Erica said it wasn't an affair, wasn't a fling, and was a mistake. Wasn't so crazy about the part where she wanted Kendall to keep lying, but was crazy about how much she wanted to help her daughter, son-in-law, and the boys. As for Kendall, she broke my heart. AM emotes so beautifully. Loved that she's decided to tell Zach, believes in him and their love, and is all about doing the right thing. I love that she can finally see that while lying may look like selflessly trying to protect Zach, it's not; it's just making their whole life together a lie, and it's not going to work in the long run. I'm so proud of her--she's broken away from the DFS/Ryass/Aidone stuff that's been controlling her life for far too long, and she's concentrating on Zach and their life together, and she's willing to risk all the agony if it means doing the right thing, giving Zach the truth and the respect and the love that he deserves.

Previews look amazing.

GO TEAM SLATER!!!

MinKayefan - April 12, 2008 06:59 AM (GMT)
I'm going to join the bandwagon of those that believe Annie did it intentionally......I never liked her, and since this whole famnesia story started, she has blamed Kendall......but, it always bugs me, that people who are suppose to be Zach's friend, always wind up hurting him, to get back at Kendall....Once the reveal happens, and everyone finds out that Zach is committed to Kendall, his marriage and family, the Slater's can dump the excess family members who are really not family, and care only about themselves......

the last scene, with Zach looking at the photo, and Kendall walking in later, just heartbreaking......I know I should be excited for Monday, but, all I can do is dread it......I really don't want to see how broken the Slater's will be......cause, I teared up when reading the spoilers......

zks - April 12, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
Minikayefan, ITA. This is going to be good, but heartbreaking. As much as I've been waiting for it, I dread watching it.

I'll be so happy when Zach and Kendall can get back to being the loving couple we know and love so much.

They are STILL that LOVING couple I know and love.
That hasn't changed

I too look forward to Monday!!! The Slaters will break my heart but I've got the Kleenes ready - and look forward to have the story move on.
I have no use for Annie - Kendall should fire her from Fusion! With a friend like her - Kendall doesnt need an enemy - she is one. She knows Zach is double the man that Ryan is and she can't stand that.

TKLOVER - April 13, 2008 01:34 AM (GMT)
ITA we will need the Kleenex Monday for sure! I hope I can get through it without needing meds. I know AM/TK will rock it!
